Kimi Raikkonen is coming back to Scuderia Ferrari, is he coming for success?/M.Sanytrák/foto J.Křenek

Kimi is coming back to the team where he won his first World Champion Title. Will he be successful again? Will both drivers have the same conditions or will Fernando enjoy more support from the team? Kimi being a "backup" is an interesting thought. Scuderia Ferrari is going to have two World Champions in their team next year. The total of 3 World Champion Titles at one place in two seats, we haven't seen anything like that yet!

A cold blooded Kimi and a temperamental Fernando, how does that match? There are several interesting questions for the Maranello team to answer immediately, even if there are rules that aren't allowed to be broken. One way or another, the F1 season 2014 will be very interesting for Scuderia Ferrari and hopefully also motivating and progressive. The team needs to focus on the construction of the monopost above all. They have the potential and the rules have changed, there will be a new car.

From the personal point of view, Ferrari has everything and it's been working with discipline and a pedantic approach from the very top, where you can find Luca di Montezomolo. However, I assume that it is the coaching of the team which is missing. A personal approach to everyone, once exercised by Jean Todt. He made up a clear set of rules for the personnel management. I think that those need to be reinstated to create a strong team, and it involves also daily coaching. Reinstate in the realm of the current state, maybe restart is the right word! An important part of such a restart would be a certain thought process linked to the communication with the team.

In every company I am involved in the human resources, I set up personal coaching on a daily basis, and not only for the key people. It's a tough job but it pays. It's not a job for a beginner, the coach needs to understand a lot of things, which he can put in the right context and apply everything available in the company. For instance, in a F1 team he should have awareness also about the materials the monopost is made of. A Coach should be able to talk to a cleaning lady as well as a top engineer. A sort of a renaissance man, in fact.

Many coaches I spoke with don't understand and refuse that. However, I think it's just the Czech mentality showing, if you don't know how to do something, you at least claim it's a nonsense. Should I use a crystal analogy, it's similar to carbon. Each layer representing something, even though I'm not going to shout out to the world what exactly - that's my know-how gained in 30 years of experience with personal management. The moto of such work is to be strict and fair to everyone!

The procedure is a bit more complicated than it might appear from this text, I use the term "walking the firm". That was Jean Todt's and Ross Brawn's strength. That was also why Scuderia Ferrari was such a strong team. You just need to push on as Jean Todt wrote me once (in an answer to my inquiry about the news from Ferrari).

Every manager inputs some key decisions into the team he's leading. In case of a coach, they all are key. A strategic personal plan with an individual's responsibility in a given time frame and the coaching are the leverage creating a powerful synergy which pushes the team on. It dawned on me with time what the Jean Todt's "push on" actually meant!
