British GP: what the results don't say. Exclusive from Petr Minarik/photo J.Krenek

We couldn't leave out this year's Grand Prix in Silverstone from our game of statistics. A race, which proved a significant improvement of Ferrari, whose third victory this year was stolen mere four laps before the finish by the Australian Mark Webber. Also thanks to not the best tire strategy. In spite of that, the at the beginning of the season indistinct Maranello cars scored the most points in the last 19 races...

L.Hamilton

Their ambitions were obvious already in the Saturday's qualification. The qualification, interrupted by rain, has been the best this year for both red cars. And Fernando Alonso won his 21st pole position after 32 races, which he immediately dedicated to Maria de Villon, Marussia's test driver, who lost her eye in an accident. Thanks to this pole position the Spaniard leveled off with the 12th Lewis Hamilton. For the Ferrari cars and engines it was also the first won qualification since the GP of Singapore in 2010 and the first pole position for #5 since GP Abu Dhabi 2010 (by the way #5 is the second most successful in winning pole positions). On the contrary, the rainy qualification was the worst for the trio Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button and Charles Pic.

And also the race set its record in history, of course, by the way, it was the 300th Championship event for the Spanish drivers and 375th for the Japanese. If nothing else then the fact that it was Webber's ninth GP victory (putting him to the 33rd place in the charts, before the Belgian Jacky Ickx and after the Austrian Gerhard Berger), but it was also the 35th triumph for Australian drivers. It also brought a jubilee 30th victory for Red Bull, which moreover scored the most points in one race.

J.Button

The GP of Great Britain, which was the 80th F1 race for Timo Glock and the 20th for the former Prague ISR team Daniel Ricciardo, also brought a EUR 10,000 penalty for Pastor Maldonado for his too aggressive driving based on the complaint of Sergio Perez. And furthermore, for the Venezuelan driver, since his victory in Spain, it was the fourth race in a row in which he could just dream about scoring some points. On the contrary, Lotus couldn't hide their satisfaction. Partly because  Kimi Räikkönen took the fastest lap (20th for #9 and 145th for Renault engines) and then: Lotus climbed to the third place in the Constructor's Table, leaping over McLaren! And also Felipe Massa enjoyed Silverstone: for the 31-years-old Brazilian the fourth place is the most distinct result since his podium in the GP South Korea 2010.

The Brazilian's team mate Fernando Alonso, collecting success also in Silverstone, still remains the only driver to score points in all nine events this year (he was without points last time at the GP Canada last year), while there were no less than four teams to score in all races: Red Bull, Ferrari, Lotus and McLaren. However, the Woking's team only scored nine points in the last two races. Nobody can remember anything like that since the point system was introduced. It means since 2010. Can they change the trend at the German Hockenheimring?
