Biting your nails is a sure sign of being highly nervous in the body language, when you are not controlling your behaviour and are afraid of something to come. It is understandable at newcomers. Everybody has experienced that at least once. There were times when even Jean Todt solved the same problem and his wife put transparent plasters around his nails, but no wonder, the stress J. Todt had to take at Ferrari - I would probably bite my whole arm off and I don't get scared easily.
