Presentation ceremony of the Climber of the Year in F1 2010, this time at the Hungarian GP /M.Sanytrak/ photo V.Rys

The presentation ceremony this year was unusual, I would say. The communication with the Red Bull Racing Team was excellent, but in the end everything got delayed and I was quite nervous whether the ceremony would happen at all. It wasn't possible to hand the prize over at the German GP because of an enormous work load of the team  and on Wednesday before the Hungarian GP I received an email, which wasn't optimistic at all. Verbatim it said there was no time to receive the trophy, that there are other, more important tasks waiting for the drivers, and Red Bull Racing is already enjoying an important position. To be honest, for me it was hard to believe. I am known for my manners and so I asked for the possibility to present the trophy through the photographer Jiri Krenek.

I got a reply that it was possible and I was happy for the moment, that everything would be all right. On Wednesday 27 July 2011, in the evening around 8pm I arrived from Unhost to Prague with a bagful of cups and certificates and small presents for the team. I must admit that I like Red Bull Racing because they were the first team to invite me to the world of Formula 1 and that is something to remember. Every GP I am in contact with the team and keep in touch through text messages. Now and then I get a reply to my sincere congratulations. Jiri Krenek took care of everything with a promise to keep me informed.

To present the trophy to the team in the current world of Formula 1 was interesting also because of the fact that it doesn't come with any money, it is a reader's poll with eight years of tradition and it is becoming popular for more and more people, even though the "point's" score might suggest otherwise. It is almost impossible to find sponsors for the www.constructorsf1.com and www.climberf1.com. To be honest, I never expected this to be very profitable project, but I hoped that at least the costs might get covered, which hasn't happened yet.

The ceremony happened in Energy Station sometime afternoon on Thursday 28 July 2011, Jiri Krenek handed the cups over to Katie Tweedle, who took care of everything together with Nicole Carling, thank you. However, at that time I had no knowledge of this. I first learned about it on Sunday when I received an email from Jiri Krenek with photos and a brief info. The photos were taken by Mr V.Rys, a Red Bull Racing photographer, who I have known for a long time as well and it was his and Jiri Krenek's merit, that the team's boss Christian Horner had his photo taken with both cups. I would like to thank also through this website.

In spite of all this I sent a thank you letter to Red Bull Racing with a request for a photo with Sebastian Vettel, let's see what's going to happen. Anyway, V.Rys' photos are excellent and once again Red Bull Racing didn't let me down.
