TAG Heuer's partner Audi Sport wins second consecutive title at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Two weeks after turning Monaco into TAG Heuer Town during the Monaco Grand Prix and being the official watch of Indy500, TAG Heuer's "150 YEARS OF MOTOR-RACING" celebrations move to Le Mans, the most prestigious race in endurance motorsports.

The Swiss watch brand's legitimate presence at the oldest endurance race in motor sports is without rival. TAG Heuer co-starred with Steve McQueen and his Gulf-sponsored Porsche 917K in the 1970 film classic "Le Mans," partnered with Scuderia Ferrari and the famous Ferrari 312 PB sport prototypes in 1973, and won with Peugeot Sport and its drivers Marc Géné, Alexander Wurz and David Brabham in 2009. Last year, TAG Heuer combined forces with Audi Sport, the most winning team in Le Mans history, and took the title again. This year, armed with a powerful new R18 TDI car, the sporting duo took home a second consecutive victory, thanks to Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer in the Audi R18 #2. TAG Heuer also won LMP2 category thanks to Greaves Motorsport and their drivers Tom Kimber-Smith, Olivier Lombard and Karim Ojjeh.

TAG Heuer and Audi Sport have realized their exciting quest to post back-to-back victories at the most mythic endurance race in motorsports - the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This year's edition was one of the most exciting races in Le Mans history.

TAG1

For the 79th edition of the Le Mans race, the Swiss watch brand is once again Official Partner for watches, eyewear and timekeeping solutions of the German racecar team, which put once again the victories record higher, with now 10 victories in Le Mans. The mythical race took place June 11-12, 2011, the same weekend that TAG Heuer Ambassador Jenson Button and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes won the Canada F1 Grand Prix. Button's victory puts him in second place overall in the F1 driver's standings.

Audi Sport rolled out three ultra-lightweight R18 TDI cars for the race, and an impressive line-up of drivers: Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller in car #1; Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Treluyer in car #2; and Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen (8-time winner, a world record) and Allan McNish in car #3.

TAG2

Audi Sport flew TAG Heuer colours on its racing cars and drivers' suits at Le Mans as it does in all 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup endurance races. Team drivers wear and promote TAG Heuer CARRERA Day-Date chronographs and managers wear TAG Heuer Grand CARRERA chronographs. The team uses TAG Heuer's timekeeping technology during private testing sessions.

TAG Heuer also equips Audi Sport drivers with TAG Heuer Night Vision glasses. Created to provide better night-vision comfort by correcting night myopia and prismatic deviation, this exclusive TAG Heuer technology helps maximize the Audi Team's driving performance at dawn, dusk and in the dark of night. Enhancing vision while driving - in road car driving and competition car racing - is the keystone of TAG Heuer's Avant-Garde Eyewear strategy. Audi Sport Drivers put these products to the test in the most demanding conditions imaginable, and TAG Heuer's R&D use their findings to push accuracy and performance even further.

"What a great way to cap our 150 Years of Motor-Racing celebrations, with a second straight trophy at Le Mans," said Jean-Christophe Babin, TAG Heuer CEO and President. "Our partnership with Audi Sport exemplifies what is unique about our brand heritage - the closest ties to motor sports and car manufacturing in the watchmaking industry, and a relentless focus of every ounce of energy and know-how on one goal: being the best."

TAG Heuer celebrates "150 years of Motor Racing" in 2011. Founded in Saint-Imier in 1860 by Edouard Heuer, TAG Heuer has set many major milestones of high-end watchmaking, especially in the field of chronographs and ultimate precision. Today, one of the largest and most desired brands in the luxury watch industry, the Swiss legend draws upon its active engagement in the world of sports to create the most accurate timing instruments and watches in the world. TAG Heuer is the first watchmaker to master luxury chronographs with an unsurpassed precision of 1/10th, 1/100th, 1/1,000th and 1/10,000 of a second. From the Olympic Games in the 1920s to its role as official timekeeper for Formula One in the 90s and the legendary Indy 500 race today, TAG Heuer, in a constant quest for innovation, excellence, performance and prestige, continues to aim ever higher. This is reflected in its partnerships with F1 team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and its World Champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, Audi Sport for Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race, and the Automobile Club de Monaco with the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. Now actively engaged in the Monaco Grand Prix, in Le Mans and the Indy 500, TAG Heuer is ‘'Mastering Speed'' on motorsport's 3 most iconic racetracks. More than ever, the brand epitomizes prestige and performance through active partnerships with Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, LPGA star Suzann Pettersen and WTA tennis champion Maria Sharapova. TAG Heuer is a privileged member of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), the most exclusive club in the Swiss watchmaking industry.

The newest additions to the TAG Heuer legacy are: the Calibre 1887, an in-house, Swiss manufactured, integrated column-wheel chronograph movement that pays tribute to the original Heuer oscillating pinion of 1887, one of the brand's first patents and a major benchmark in modern watchmaking; The TAG HEUER CARRERA 1887 CHRONOGRAPH, named the 2010 Swiss Watch of the Year in the Grand Prix de l'Horlogerie de Genève's prestigious "La Petite Aiguille" ("Small Hand") category; and the Heuer Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th Second Chronograph, the first ever column wheel integrated mechanical chronograph with 1/100th of a second display by a central hand, which pays tribute to the legendary Heuer Mikrograph stopwatch of 1916. At BaselWorld 2011, TAG Heuer unveiled the TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000, the only mechanical chronograph to measure and display the 1/1,000th of a second. With 11 patents pending on its pioneering technology, this Concept Chronograph opens up a new window on time.

TAG Heuer's "150 Years of Mastering Speed" celebrations in 2011 commemorate the brand's unrivalled heritage in motor sports, which include such historic contributions as the 1911 patent for 'Time of Trip', the world's first dashboard chronograph. As part of the celebrations, a unique exhibition showcasing TAG Heuer's greatest racing partners and motorsport-inspired timepieces will tour major cities and racing capitals. Four-time F1 World Champion Alain Prost, a friend of the brand since the 1980s, is the "Mastering Speed" Special Ambassador.
